A quick thankyou to those who attended today’s PROBLEM SOLVING lecture. I haven’t called myself a designer for years. I am a problem solver and in my mind that is what design is…. Be it a client brief and a blank piece of paper or someone else’s visual that has been sold to a client that I now need to make realistic, buildable and in budget. WHY X5 and WHAT WHERE WHEN WHY WHO cover forward thinking techniques, retrospective problem solving, urgent issues on site (and on paper) to solve asap, taking into account contractors to consider. All with real world examples of how each happens, how to solve it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Forward thinking is a great way to confirm your design decisions, confirm your concept direction mixing creativity with a practical buildable approach. Imagine sitting infront of potential employer and explaining your your design creatively, then explaining through SOARS your design decisions, problems solved and the services being implemented to make your design as realistic as possible…… (If you didn’t attend that’s what you missed).
