Any students planning on doing a commercial project for their FMP pls consider the following:
1. RAF (raised access floor) – Best way to give flexible desk arrangements, set in floor boxes and run all of your power and data in them
2. IPS – the most practical back wall system in WCs allowing access and maintenance
3. Acoustic walls – meeting rooms etc need privacy so allow for different wall types and different Db ratings to suit (look at the white book for standard details but note the difference from Rw to real world Db expectations
4. MEP – If exposed services allow for duct work and cassette or if suspended ceiling think grills / cassettes
Do your research on the above so you understand the principles and design them into your FMP
If you add these elements in to your design, when discussing these details with a potential employer you will demonstrate real world elements and show you are ahead of the curve……
