Anyone who has listened to me lecture know I am a strong believer in a designer being a problem solver more so than a creative. The creative aspect should follow the problem solution. Designer something that is aesthetic but creates more problems than solutions isn’t ideal and then creates more problems to solve.

Sell your self as a problem solver is a good thing. Market yourself as a problem detector is even better!! Can you forsee issues coming and resolve them before they surface? Are you forward thinking the design, its functionality and construction install process to see further down the line and eliminate issues is before they happen?

Be that person and you will have a great career. If your not that person, start asking questions about all aspects of design and construction and learn to think that way to really get ahead of the curve….
