Checking the line of sight is a good habit to adopt…

Checking the line of sight is a good habit to adopt when reviewing your general arrangement. It’s a great way to really understand what your clients will see from ALL of the areas in your plan.

1. Hold the plan just off horizontal plane.

2. Bend down and look just over the plan.

3. Revolve the plan to check all areas internally and externally.

4. Look beyond the obvious and see what you hadn’t considered.

Its a great way to understand what everyone sees, from looking down that long corridor to see a blank dog leg wall that hadn’t been considered, to actually looking from the inside of the WC & lobby to realise the line of sight is straight at a prime location dining area.

The logics of the plan may make sense however it’s easy to overlook something simple that slips through the net.

Walk through your plan from the inside, all areas, to understand where additional lobbies need to be, artwork makes sense to save a blank wall from obscurity, etc. Long monotonous corridors are the worse culprits.

A bar Hero shot visual may look great on paper when focusing on that area, however just to the left may be a BOH door that is in constant use. Keep stepping further back to highlight a sightline of something untoward that you can resolve and improve.
