Having trouble being creative? Get the basics right first:
1. get yr head out of the plan (once you have the ergonmics, space association, circulation and SQM right) and into a typical elevation
2. set standard datum heights:
a.skirting
b.dado(if applicable)
c.door height, architrave
d.light fittings (if suspended)
e. ceiling
f. ceiling levels (if applicable)
g. artwork height
h. special feature?
3. Now get the basics right regarding detailing:
a. skirting thickness and style
b. architrave thickness and size
c. architrave – skirting junction standard
d. door detailing and facade
e. artwork size, style, fixing
f. special feature?
Now you have a standard template to build and layer.
Good design isn’t always about a ” creative moment of genius” to get you going, it is about “assembling” the basics, the standards, the principles and then work into it based upon reality….. (if yr working in a team this sort of approach is key to continuity!!!!)
