What to stand out in your first interview for a graduate position?

Take a sketchbook, label it FURTHER DESIGN DEVELOPMENT and spend time taking that final major project further. Sketch construction details, design alternatives and more. Anything and everything that you wish you had time to develop or didn’t or maybe just wasn’t part of the brief but you have a valid interest i.e. take that reception desk design and detail it up with alternative elements that could be added.

Why? It’s that mic drop moment in your interview when you have finished going through your FMP and “here’s some further development I did after the project was finished and submitted because I was so committed to it and really wanted to go beyond the brief requirements and expectations …..etc etc”.

This is easy to do but takes some commitment and dedication and that you don’t stand still and want to keep challenging yourself….. something you want to do to demonstrate what your bring to a future employer…..something they will remember you for…… something to make you stand out from the crowd and get ahead for the curve!
