If I was running a project for a term at a university, how would I mark it?

1. 50% project creativity & originality
2. 10% Production of work against specific drawing/schedule list (to industry standards and level to pass to a contractor to price for tender)
3. 10% Time management
4. 10% Presentation
5. 10% Build ability
6. 10% Compliance to Building Regulations

Some of you maybe surprised by creativity being only 50%. Truth is:

1. a project won’t get approved by a client if you cant sell it!
2. a project won’t get built if the information is lacking the correct details etc to price for tender
3. a project won’t get built if it isn’t designed on time to a set programme
4. a project won’t get built if it isn’t built around realism and modern construction techniques
5. a project won’t get built to its original concept if it doesn’t comply with building regs

So, understanding and designing to achieve that “other” 50%, which are expected of you in “the real world” suddenly makes a lot of sense, especially when you present it in an interview for your first job!
