If you are applying for a designer role as a graduate…..

If you are applying for a designer role as a graduate then you are going to blend in with all of the others. You need to have the mindset of a junior designer with at least 1 years experience. You need to talk the talk, your folio should walk the walk and you should demonstrate you are already ahead of the curve and stand out. (An employer will find a graduate with an industry mindset and folio very appealing because they don’t have to spend so much time teaching them!)

Stop discussing your university projects like they are still at university on the wall. Start talking about them as if they are going to get built, with a real approach to how it will get built, how your work is up to industry standard and on point to give to a contractor to start on tomorrow…..

Don’t let the uni mindset hold you back. You need to get onto your next learning curve now….

(If you don’t know what I am talking about, go back to my posts from day zero!)
