Just a quick note to thank the attendees of Tuesdays detailing session. As per the norm now we ALL detail a reception/bar/service counter together LIVE, taking into account information required at 1:20/1:10, then we detailed a construction section at 1:5 looking at stone top nosing details, substrate, joint lines. We also detailed so 1.1/1:2 countertop nosings, drip catchers, recessed kick plates. We also looked at the carcass internal structural (survival space) needed for pipework and cabling for power supply and hot/cold water requirements.

Lastly we took this knowledge and produced a detailed section of a typical banquette seat for a restaurant, taking into account the internal structure, against a wall spacing requirements (which most people don’t!) as well as how to give the illusion of deep seats, padded seat and back fixing for easy maintenance and continuity in your design language (i.e. skirting heights etc).

As always the attendees get my hand drawn versions to cross reference against at a later date to help with their own detail development.
