Right time, right place is everything when finding a job, an interview opportunity or just an introduction when you are a graduate.
If you are liking a post a week after it was posted you are a week behind. Imagine liking a job post and realising you are perfect for it and visa versa but you now have 100 other applications in front of you…..
Routine is everything in design. Setting standards and good practices are key to growth, building and achieving your goals and ambitions. Just like in a project (i.e. RIBA stages) there is a protocol and procedures process. Do the same with your daily routine.
Get into good habits, spend your time wisely just like you would your money…. invest it correctly (15 minutes on LinkedIn daily is more valuable than 1 HR on tiktok!) and build on your knowledge (There is more content and insider knowledge that add value to you, your skillset and your knowledge on this group alone in the posts but the question is are you paying attention? I don’t know of any other site like this and trust me I would have given my right arm for this knowledge when I was at uni almost 30 years ago!!). Liking a photo or comment is fine. Reading, absorbing and putting into practise industry standards is potentially career changing. Investing in yourself is a commitment only you can do. Take responsibility of your future be making good choices and starting good routines.
Lastly take every opportunity you can find… The hardest thing for a graduate designer to do is to get their foot on the career ladder. Experience makes a world of difference. I post lots of opportunities on here from jobs to internships…… the question is how many of you are taking advantage of these? Internships should be seen as self investment (little financial reward but big on getting real world experience on your CV) and if you can afford it can make a big difference.
