Thankyou to everyone who came to the first in a series of hotel design lectures. Anyone expecting a presentation of hotel interior slides and discussions about fantastic projects….. that’s not what we do here!!!

It was a lean, no fat, 60 minutes intense overview (with notes issued at the end) of what to do, think about and how to approach the project the moment that hotel brief lands on your desk. We only discuss industry standards and expectations to get you ready and show you are ahead of the curve….

We went through backward timeline programming, research approach to justify your design approach and solidify your design direction, early thought approaches, industry standards and expectations and how to design a 100 key hotel with tiering (and why) and sub tiering efficiently, at speed while maintaining yr design philosophy. Value engineering is key for mass production with minimal effort.

We also spoke about £SQFT/SQM, client expectations bringing value to the hotel and revenue. We even talked about the importance / location of a COMMS Room and BMS into your building and why. Now if your asking what a BMS is (ask your tutors), you are already behind. You would be surprised what you can learn in 60 minutes to get industry ready…..Maybe you should think about what some extra curricular lessons could do for your designer mindset, skillset and approach to increase your opportunities in 9 months time…..And they are free too…..What have you got to lose?
