Tuesday nights lecture session will be discussing everything you need to demonstrate real world standards in a CAD package to work as a CAD technician. Why is this important? Because this is the most common way of getting your foot in the door in a design practise…..
We will be discussing:
1. Different drawing package types – preliminary/for info Marion/ for tender/ for construction / as built and expected level of information required
2. Drawing numbering systems
3. Title blocks showing the correct level of information
4. Drawing standards and principles to industry expectations
5. Typical Drawings and how to demonstrate an understanding and build a package of the correct level of information that has continuity i.e. Existing, demolition,GA, RCP, Small Power & Data, Partition layout and types, Fire plans, Security drawings, Floor finishes, Builders works, etc then elevations / sections and then details including door details and a door schedule
6. Cross referencing drawing information quickly and efficiently via call outs as well as typical standards and typical details
7. Drawing issue sheets
At the end of this lecture you will understand the above, how to produce it and more importantly, how to demonstrate that you are industry ready……
If you are a second or third year student, start demonstrating this now….. if you have graduated and know the above, you will be more appealing to an employer
