Open to Work post on Linkedin…Start Standing Out

Linkedin isn’t that big on sympathy…Sorry but the reality is your reach is only as wide as your network and how people value you (ex colleague/friend etc). I see hundreds of OTW posts every week but how many people actually dig further into the post to find out more about them? As a graduate yr network will be small therefore so is yr reach…

Posting that your “open to work” as a graduate designer with the same “cut and paste” standard linkedin blurb isn’t making you stand out……How many of you have yr CV in linkedin bio? What will your linkedin page really tell me about you and why I should hire you??

Use the OTW post as an advertisement to get people to your CV/Folio and more….

1. Sell yourself – make yourself standout from the crowd in the post… Sell sell sell…

2. List your skillsets, design section and experience. See it as a mini CV. Ernst Hemingway could tell a story in 6 words…. Tell me why they should consider you in the post( but don’t put the standard enthusiastic/hard working/…… ). I dont look for “designers” in junior roles, I look for CAD, Visual experts, Sketchers, Problem solvers, detailers, creatives working to industry standards and industry ready….

3. Add a link to your folio or online CV etc. Don’t make me hunt for your info. My time is precious so make it easy to find everything about you in 1 hit……

4. Get yr LinkedIn page up to scratch!!! Ye page should tell me everything I need to know and more…

Want to get ahead of the curve… Think outside the box… Start standing out and dont follow the norm…
