How do you describe your average day…? Are you doing enough?

Time management and being able to balance your mindset to deal with the days tasks are all part of being a designer, design manager and more.

My average day consists of:

Running minimum 1-2 meetings lasting 90 mins

Updating documentation following DTMs to align with meeting progress and tasks achieved/to be done

Liaising with document controller about making sure /  updating all necessary online servers for full access to latest DWGs etc for subcontractors in tender/DPP or onsite construction

Average 30-50 emails that I either respond directly to liaise with others to resolve and feed back to the wider team

Minimum 10 phone calls average 15-30 mins

Redpen minimum 15+DWGs pending drawing stage and status and input required

Planning ahead tasks that needs to be resolved within 1/2/5 days by myself/others

Liaising with commercial teams regarding sign off for further designer progress to be done

Liaising with site teams to clarify any further  issues / general progress and next key dates

Liaising with PM regarding project progress and any delays

Client direct contact via teams regarding further project updates / sign off and project progress

Problem solving site issues or challenges

Review BCO/LPA progress and more…

Plus…… Anything else that may come my way

If you balance yr day,Ange your time, work fast and smart, know what you are doing and why, you can achieve alot.

The secret?

Learn to juggle / spin plates /rub belly while taping top of your head /however you want to describe it….. To be a good designer you need to be able to multi task with focus, speed and clarity…

What can you do in a day?
